One of the things I enjoy most about living in my neighborhood (bedsides the park ducks!) are the urban amenities I can walk to, like our fantastic Cummer Museum which I visited last night!
The Cummer prioritizes keeping art accessible to all and hosts free events constantly. Some museums can feel stiff and serious. Not The Cummer, where the vibe is festive and chill. There were so many families strolling through, coupled with live music in the background. A fun night out!
What I love about seeing live art…
Connecting to people, both artists and subjects, who lived hundreds, and even thousands, of years ago. Imagine their lives!
Being transported to places I have never been, and to the ones I have, and thinking of friends who still live amongst sacred landscapes.
Art is for connection - to ourselves, and to each other.
Art brings back good memories.
Museums are a really good escape from reality. A place to get lost, and then found again.
It's amazing how much has been collected, saved, and has survived. Some of the pottery was from 2000 BC!
Walking through a museum is like receiving a lesson in world history, a text book coming to life.
If you are long overdue for a museum visit like I was, I highly recommend! Supporting the arts is always a good cause, and pairs well with Taco Tuesday! 🌮🖼️🌮
