On balance ⚖️
either we get there on our own, or the universe will get us there 🤸
When I woke up this morning I wrote several love notes. My heart was calling on me to share loving feelings with several people in my life. In giving there is receiving. A great example of balance.
Another great example of balance… My friend who's taking her son and his friends into the high country today to cool off because the desert is way too hot.
Or my friend who takes care of her aging parents, and then spends time obsessing over the birds and the bees in her garden. They bring her relief and joy!
Or for me: when I had stable income I was exhausted, overwhelmed and stressed, and now that I'm a contractor I am well-rested, innovative, and energized. My hard work is consistent, but now I can more easily build in breaks for my health and well-being.
In this moment, I know the sun is rising because I can see the reflection on a window to my right. Normally I would jump up and walk to the edge of the deck to get a picture of the sunrise. In this moment, I am resting my weary ankle and choosing to prioritize my healing over my desire to capture a pretty picture. Balance.
Life, by it’s very nature, wants to be in balance. When it becomes out of balance, we find out pretty quickly. The universe lets us know when we are being too careless or clumsy. Reminders will show up. Whether we listen or not, it's up to us. Whether our life gets easier or harder, also up to us. Life will keep happening. We will keep getting wakeup calls. If we build in our work, our play, and our rest consistently we are honoring the balance life requires of us and we will be rewarded with more ease.
Balance is being able to hold at least two opposing truths at once. I'm not sure when or why we decided we had to choose only one truth, but it is absolutely not true. What we focus on is always our choice, but it doesn't mean the opposite does not also exist. Always. We want to acknowledge it. We want to stay honest and true. The whole truth is what sets us free from friction, discomfort, and pain, and the truth grows us in ways we could never have imagined were possible. How cool is that! 🙏🏻🤍🙏🏻
