This is the stated mission of Iration, the opening band last night for Slightly Stoopid: that people leave feeling better than when they arrived. Imagine if ALL of life felt like that?! If every conversation, every meal, every interaction, and every life experience left us feeling better than when we arrived. The accumulative effect could change this world!
I am always amazed by how many people love reggae. Although reggae and weed have a reputation for pairing well together, reggae is not just for stoners. Reggae pairs just as well with Bud Light as it does with lit bud. People want to feel relaxed and chill, another thing we humans share in common that connects us to each other, and reggae music gets us there.
For me and G, going to a concert in downtown Jax is about the bike ride that gets us there as much as it’s about the music. We love urban biking! We arrived home by around 10p - exhilarated, hard-of-hearing, and very happy. We both agreed that if you are not urban biking at night in Jax, you are missing out on the best part of living here. That's how much we love it, every time! We geek out hard. We also get that most people we know would never do what we do, that we are wired differently.
We appreciate not waiting in long lines of event traffic, we enjoy the luxury of biking on the wide, empty city streets after hours, and the bridges and fountain are lit up and gorgeous by night. It was a sweaty ride that left us breathless at times, and it was as romantic as being in a European capital together.
I am very grateful for my strong heart/lungs/legs that got me there and back, and that even while battling an icky head-cold that prevented me from singing along or drinking a beer, I was still able to dance-in-place, bike my heart out, and enjoy the simple pleasures of a life well spent with my love.
Shabbat Shalom, y’all, and may this post leave you feeling better than when you arrived. 🙏🏻🤍🙏🏻
Love this!!
